Thanksgiving is a time in which we reflect upon our accomplishments throughout the year, and bring our friends and family closer. Food, the focal point of Thanksgiving which unites us around the dinner table, is something many families and individuals aren’t fortunate enough to have.
As Thanksgiving is a time for us to come together and enjoy a bountiful feast, it is also a time for us to bring such comforts to those whom are less fortunate. Here are a few ways you can give back to your fellow Bostonians this holiday!
Greater Boston Food Bank
The Greater Boston Food Bank seeks to end hunger in Eastern Massachusetts, and during Thanksgiving that mission doesn’t stop. Over 23,000 people already volunteer with the Greater Boston Food Bank, and you could be one of them. Joining the team who provides healthy meals to those in need is one way to give back this Thanksgiving!

Deliver Meals to Homebound Seniors
It’s easy for the senior citizens of our communities to become outcasts due to limited mobility and accessibility. Everyone deserves a happy Thanksgiving, and our immobile seniors are no exception. Both Boston Cares and Community Servings offer excellent programs for providing meals to our seniors.

Sponsor a Family's Meal
The Thanksgiving project by United Way provides over 6,500 families with the essentials for a Thanksgiving meal. You can directly sponsor a family’s meal, host a “friendsgiving,” run an item drive, or volunteer as a group to help pack the meals.

Prepare Meals for the Homeless
Boston Rescue Mission provides shelter and meals for the homeless and needy in Boston. This mission continues throughout the holidays as those in need look to celebrate with their loved ones. During the Day of Thanks, thousands of volunteers get together to provide Thanksgiving meals to the needy.
